Maybe you've held out as long as you can, or maybe you want to start off right. Either way you are thinking that it may be time to hire a professional graphic designer. Chances are, you're right. The advantages to hiring a graphic designer is that they will have the tools and the knowhow to get the job done. Something beyond design that I offer my customers is personally understanding what each design is going to be used for and creating the design based off each customers needs. With my business background, I can put myself in a customers shoes and deliver a design that goes beyond their average expectations.
1. You've used a pre-made design from a supplier, slapped your name on it, you were told that it looks good, and then you woke up! You saw someone in your same industry in your same town using the same template and your stomach sank. This is when you noticed the difference between people who hire a graphic designer to create custom work based on their needs, and those who think a pre-made design will work "just fine" for what they need.
2. Graphic design isn't something to get stingy on. First find a graphic designer that you like, let them know about your project and see if it is something they can do. Graphic designers get busy, so make sure they know your deadline, and then tell them what your budget is. If they like you and your project, chances are they will do it. Don't be worried if the first designer you pick isn't the right fit.
3. Staying in contact is really important when you're working with a graphic designer. Setting deadlines is good because they are like check points. Most of my customers want multiple things done all together. So I set deadlines based off of what needs to be done first, and move along as I go. I get approval at each step of the process and let the customer know the idea behind each design and detail. A good graphic designer will keep you in the loop with their schedule, the process, and their time-line.
My services are available for many different types of design work. Beyond design, my screen printing experience has advanced my skills of the complex process from film output, screen exposure, and to final production. These skills help me prepare every design in a way that will work well across many platforms from web based design, designs to be printed on paper, as well as screen printing. I look forward to speaking with you about your graphic design needs!
